Pilates has been a part of my life for over 20 years. While working in New York City as a Broadcast Executive; it was important to me to take care of my physical and mental health. I found Pilates did that for me & became an enthusiast of “The Method” which was developed by Joseph Pilates.
After moving to South Florida in 2005 I thought this was the perfect time to take my passion to the next level. Instead of practicing what I preach – why not teach what I practice.
I received my educational training and certification through Power Pilates. They are committed to honoring the integrity of the methods of Joseph Pilates and to teaching with fresh and innovative techniques.
A limited number of repetitions are used in a dynamic sequence of movements that follow the six principles of Pilates: Concentration, Control, Centering, Precision, and Flow & Breathing. It is through these principles that we achieve strong, flexible muscles, coordination and balance.
Golf is another passion of mine and it became apparent that the Pilates Method was a perfect training form for golfers because it trains the mind and body synergistically and functionally.
Pilates is a method of conditioning that involves hundreds of exercises designed to improve strength and flexibility without adding bulk. What golfer wouldn’t want to gain distance, hit the ball accurately, and play without pain or discomfort?
Not only did I begin to see the improvement of my golf game, my clients, who are golfers, started to notice the difference in their game. I combined my knowledge of Pilates and Golf which led to my certification to teach Pilates For Golfers.
During a routine checkup my Mother asked her Internist what she could do to improve her balance; he suggested that she start doing Pilates. My Mother reminded her Doctor, “I’m 87 years old!” – his response was, “So?”
My Mother is a walking advertisement for Pilates Home Trainer. Her balance, strength, flexibility, and range of motion has improved since she started her Pilates training – not to mention her golf game!
